Boot Key Harbor Project - Water

The one large boat project for this years stay at Boot Key Harbor, was the fresh water storage on the AB.  It seemed that no access ports had been provided by the makers of the vessel, so there was some 245 gallons of fresh water storage that was completely inaccessible for cleaning, inspection or anything of the sort.
Plus, during the last few months a small leak had developed.... and we could listen to our fresh water being pumped overboard by the bilge pump....  Something had to be done.

There was only one water fill port in the deck...and the fill water dropped into the main tank.  There was also only one exit for the tank into the domestic water pump system....
SO.... now... there's four tanks, and four valves to control "FILL", and there's four discharge valves to control from which tank water is drawn.  (photo of valve manifolds below)

We've also included the watermaker supply as the first valved inlet to the fill manifold.  So this is the first time we can actu ally 'choose' which tank gets filled with the "made" water.

We've biased the tanks installed so far to the starboard side of the vessel, because after removing the refrigerator holdover plates this summer we've had a permanent list to port of about 5 degrees.

So...by the 20th of FEB. we should have a new water tankage system up and running.

More on the old water storage system later....  Right now I've got to concentrate on getting the new tank and valve system up and running, and filled.   Then we can leave here and go sailing again.   yeah !!!
